Fluid Watercolor Blocks, Hot Press
Fluid Watercolor Paper Blocks are high quality watercolor papers at an affordable price. Crafted in a European mill that has been making fine art papers since 1618, these watercolor paper blocks are made with papermaking machines able to operate at very slow speeds, creating a sheet that shares the strength and quality characteristics of more expensive mould-made papers.
Each block contains watercolor paper bound on two edges. This form of block binding offers the benefit of both a pad and a block and allows for easy movement from one sheet to the next. Just remove a finished piece from the block by sliding a palette knife, or an alternative tool, underneath on all sides to loosen it from the blinding glue and lift off. With the block, an artist can forego the extra process of taping down a blank sheet of watercolor paper to a surface before painting to prevent buckling.
Each block contains 15 sheets of 140lb. hot press watercolor paper. Also available with cold press (slight tooth) paper. Made in USA.
FLAX art & design is a genuine Oakland institution. Opening their first store in 1938, they're now on their 3rd generation of family ownership and have recently relocated to a beautiful new Downtown location that could best be described as a "toy store for artists." 80 years in and they're still putting art and community front and center. You can visit them at their own site here, or find more of their products right here on Keep Oakland Alive.
